For now, though, it was a funny culmination of Gilfoyle calling Jared a liar for most of the episode and finally conceding at the end, albeit skeptically. That said, the real hook of these final scenes came in the form of Jared starting a click-farm operation, which will no doubt have major repercussions in the finale. Then there was Richard's "All is Lost" moment in the tub, offering a gloomy recap of how far they had come, only for it all to be shattered by the almighty public opinion. Meanwhile, Pied Piper's guerrilla campaign yielded some funny moments, like "Pipey the Piper" coming in to muck up the guy's ideal vision for the app. (A opossum and an elephant in the same week? Awesome!) Of course, the big payoff was Jack Barker teaming up with Gavin to pitch the notorious "Box," and succeeding! It was also icing on the cake getting to see both men lose their way in the same server warehouse the guys did a few episodes ago.
Speaking of Gavin, his animal comparisons here were on freaking point. Richard and Erlich's plane metaphor, for instance, was a great illustration of the conflict at hand, and it dovetailed nicely with one of their employees quitting and going straight to Gavin with the dirt. ("Pied Piper will in no way become sentient and take over the world.") In broader terms, I loved how the main idea of this episode was that Pied Piper was too efficient for its own good. To me, it kind of felt like this show's version of helping your tech-averse grandparent set up their computer (I know I've been there), only on a larger scale. Indeed, that turned out to be the case and led to the highly entertaining focus group sequence, in which Richard walked everyone through the app in painstaking detail.

I think we'd all been waiting for the other shoe to drop on Pied Piper's install numbers, and I did wonder if Monica's dislike of the app had to do with the fact she was the only "normal" person to test the beta.
